Twin River Commons
Broome County IDA
Newman Development, a prominent Greater Binghamton based developer, is near completion of a $20 million, 200,000 square feet student living center in downtown Binghamton. This state-of-the-art development offers 127 units (371 beds) and the latest amenities including in-room washers and dryers, a fitness center, a computer lab, and social area. The project is the most significant private investment in the City of Binghamton in more than two decades.Project Need(s)
Binghamton University is growing. The market for off-campus residential living at Binghamton University is more than 8,000 students. There are few high-quality living options in the Binghamton Market. The influx of students downtown would have a major impact on business development in Binghamton.
Project Solution
The City of Binghamton and the Broome County IDA collaborated on a payment-in-lieu of tax agreement that was of benefit to all parties. NYSEG/Iberdrola assisted with clean up of the strategic site at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers. Twin River Commons will open this summer.
