AngioDynamics Headquarters Relocation & Expansion

EDC Warren County

Project Need(s)
Word spread quickly and AngioDynamics was heavily recruited to relocate its offices and R & D center to the Boston, MA area where there is a heavy concentration of biotech and medical device talent already in place. EDC Warren County in conjunction with its regional partners were able to put together a package that addressed the value and experience of the region”s current executive level personnel, and the lower costs to operate, acquire land, construct, house employees and recruit talent in the Capital Region vs higher cost areas such as Boston/Cambridge MA. The company was given a number of potential locations between Queensbury and Albany to consider.

Project Solution
AngioDynamics ultimately chose a location with I-87 presence, just north of Albany and the Albany Airport and approximately 40 miles south of the Queensbury manufacturing plant. They constructed a new 54,000 SF building and relocated approximately 90 of their executive, R & D and marketing staff from Queensbury to the new facility. In doing so, the AngioDynamics Queensbury site was then able to retrofit space and expand capacity in their 125,000 s.f. facilty at the Airport Industrial Park. Since the relocation of HQ, Angio has demonstrated further commitment to the Capital Region and NYS by recently announcing a $370 million dollar acquisition of Naviyst Medical, another medical device manufacturer located in the Glens Falls/Queensbury area. That deal is due to close in mid 2012. The two companies will be continuing operations at two existing locations in Glens Falls over the next several years.
