Presentation on the New York State Climate Action Council’s Draft Scoping Plan as part of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act

On April 28, Maureen Leddy, Director of DEC’s Office of Climate Change and John Lee, Senior Advisor, NYSERDA provided an overview of the Climate Action Council’s Draft Scoping Plan, which is a framework for how the State will meet its ambitious climate targets under the nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. The Scoping Plan includes a strategy among various sectors - including buildings, transportation, land use and local government, and others - to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve a carbon-neutral economy while creating jobs and ensuring climate justice.

The Scoping Plan is now out for public comment and review through June 10, 2022, with public hearings scheduled across the State in April and May.
