Since 2019, the Westchester IDA and LDC have provided assistance for developments representing approximately $3.2 billion in private investment in the county with more than 4,000 new residential units and over 3,100 construction and full-time jobs.

In 2021, the Finger Lakes EDC directly assisted 33 new projects, creating in $59,175,099 in capital investment, and creating 60 new jobs over the next three years.

Steuben County IDA Director Jamie Johnston recently shared his outlook for economic development in 2022 in the area.

The Hispanic Heritage Cultural Institute is coming to Western New York with assistance from Empire State Development. The mixed-use facility will include theater and events spaces, classrooms and learning labs, a media center and offices.

Creating 20 new jobs, Falcon Acquisitions LLC is expanding to manufacture steel belt conveyors in Jamestown, thanks to assistance from the Chautauqua IDA.

The St. Lawrence County IDA is looking to expand childcare options in the county.



People and Projects in the News

A new grant will help students from SUNY Cobleskill work in collaboration with large, multi-location agricultural equipment dealerships in New York State to develop and deliver an agricultural power machinery workforce training program.

Ford Motor Co. expects to spend more than $7 million a year over the next five years updating its Buffalo Stamping Plant, retaining 979 jobs.

Brookfield Power is considering a move to Queensbury, relocating 45-50 high-paying jobs.

Frito-Lay is investing $100 million to build a new 150,000 square-foot fulfillment center in East Fishkill, creating 80 construction and 80 high paying (150% of the area average) full-time jobs.

Finger Lakes Textiles, which received a $10,000 grant through the NY Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, has sold its 10,000 hat and added a PPE line for frontline workers.

The NYC Ferry service in the Bronx is expanding with a new landing at Ferry Point Park, creating more transportation options.
