Blackman Plumbing Supply Company (Blackman) employs approximately 160 and averages over $167m in annual sales of various plumbing, heating and cooling supplies. In 2008, Blackman purchased a 204,689 sf building as its regional headquarters in an effort to consolidate their corporate offices, warehouse, and distribution needs.
Blackman needed to convert an outdated 1960's era industrial building into a modern, state of the art warehouse and distribution facility. The existing fourteen foot ceilings were raised to forty feet and the company invested a total of $26 million for the purchase and conversion.
Blackman received tax assistance from the Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency. Further, the Islip Town Board authorized a change of zone to Industrial II to allow for needed outside storage.
